 "ECOSYSTEM"

Question:11

Identify various action and roles that humans can play in preserving various ecosystem?

Answer:

Humans have done a lot of damage to the ecosystem, but now they are trying to save it.

Following are the steps that are being taken to save the ecosystem.

1.Wildlife parks have been built to save the habitats of various species.

2. Plantation is being done and artificial forests are being created to provide natural habitat to living things.

3. Awareness is being created to save the environment and habitats of living things.

Question:12

Define environment?

Answer:

All the living and non living things around us are called our environment.

Question:13

Answer:

Define predator?

The animal which eats by killing another animal is called a predator for example, Lion, tiger, shark, crocodile and lizard etc.

Question:14

Define prey?

Answer:

The living thing which is killed by predator is called a prey, For example zebra, deer, rat and fish etc.

Question:15

Define predation?

Answer:

The relationship between prey and predator is called predation. For example a dear is killed and eaten by lion.

Lion  → Predator

Deer    Prey

Goat    Predator

Grass   Prey

Question:16

If the food resources are increased, what will be effect on the population of the predator?

Answer:

f food resources increase, the predator population is likely to experience growth. Abundance of food can support increased reproduction and survival rates, leading to higher predator numbers. This can impact the prey population, potentially leading to a decline as the predator's increased presence exerts greater predation pressure.

Question:17

Write two human activities which are affecting the ecosystem?

Answer:

1. They have cut the forests.

2. Unnecessary hunting of animals.

Question:18

What are the links of food chain?

Answer:

A food chain consists of three links.

1. In any food chain the first main link is producer for example algae and plants.

2.  The second main link is the herbivore or omnivore animals for example rat, zebra, and goat.

3. The main link is a carnivore or omnivore animals for example lion, fox and snake.

(INVESTIGATION TYPE QUESTION)

Question:19

Ostrich are the largest and the heaviest birds, but they can not fly. To escape from the predator, they fight with their strong paws or run away at a speed of 70 kilometer per hour. The light brown colored female lays eggs, she sits on eggs at the day time. The black colored male ostrich warms the eggs at night. Analyze the difference in the color and state. Is their a relationship between the color of an ostrich and its environment?

Answer:

The color of an ostrich can be influenced by its environment. Ostriches living in sandy areas tend to have a lighter coloration, providing better camouflage. In contrast, ostriches in grassy or vegetated habitats may have darker feathers. However, it's important to note that coloration can also be influenced by factors such as age, gender, and individual variation.
